About the Author
In June 2009 the book received the 1699 Historic Winslow House Award and in 2010 was a finalist in one of USA Book News "Best Book" awards.While researching Mrs. Warren's life in 2005, Nancy received a William Randolph Hearst Fellowship from the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 2010 The Muse of the Revolution was short-listed by USA Book News for a " Best Book Award" in biography. Nancy's previous titles include the award-winning The Reluctant Spiritualist: The Life of Maggie Fox ; American Empress: The Life and Times of Marjorie Merriweather Post and Isabella of Castile: The First Renaissance Queen. Nancy began her writing career as a stringer for the New York Times (initially under the byline of Nancy Rubin),and after publishing her first book, The New Suburban Woman: Beyond Myth and Motherhood published in national magazines. She is the mother of two daughters, three stepchildren and step grandmother of two preschoolers. Nearly four years ago she and her husband Bill moved from Manhattan to Cape Cod but continue to enjoy the cultural life of Boston and Manhattan. Nancy's hobbies include gardening, ballet dancing, skiing and skating. Nancy has just completed a new book for Beacon Press entitled DEFIANT BRIDES due out with Beacon Press in early 2013. She also serves as Executive Director of the Cape Cod Writers Center and is a member of the board of the Women Writing Women's Lives Seminar of the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
